Independent Living
When you visit Camphill Ghent, attractive yellow houses will be the first ones to meet your eyes! They are called Magnolia and Willow Lodge, homes to many of our independent residents.
Independent residents choose from a variety of housing options ranging from studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments with kitchenettes in co-houses to larger, two-bedroom townhomes. Each unit has bedroom areas, kitchens, living rooms and spacious baths with walk-in showers, some with tubs.
The architecture of the building is graced with high vaulted ceilings, large picture windows, soft light and color. Each residence has its own patio which can be decorated to add a personal touch to the neighborhood. Utilities, maintenance, grounds care, activities and scheduled transportation are included in the monthly rates for independent living residents.

“Camphill Ghent offers relaxed living among interesting, well educated people amidst glorious scenery, major concerts and art shows, helped by an outstanding staff.”
- Joan S., Independent Living Resident

Townhomes are for residents who want a larger home and who enjoy more privacy while still having the freedom to participate in Camphill Ghent’s variety of community activities. Residents have private one-car indoor garage with access to the home and also have a separate laundry room.

In a co-house, there are shared spaces including a large living/community or dining room, laundry room, activity room, sunroom, storage closets and mudroom. This shared arrangement creates a small neighborhood, in which residents look out for each other, plan outings together, have common social gatherings and form friendships. It is a warm and friendly environment and provides a strong sense of security and camaraderie.
